New Wild Horse Artwork

“Washakie’s Portrait” by Carol Walker

This wild stallion named Washakie lives in the McCullough Peaks Herd Area in northern Wyoming. His long mane and forelock usually cover his expressive eyes, so I look for an opportunity when they peek out to capture an image. I have been photographing this gorgeous black and white pinto stallion for over 7 years, and this summer, when he came close with the sky in the background, I knew this would make a dramatic portrait.

I converted this image to black and white because I like to use black and white to increase the drama and highlight the lines of an image.

This image is available as a fine art print or as a gallery wrapped stretched canvas, and it works best in a rectangular size. The code for ordering the image is: fineart-215-washakiesportrait

New Horse Artwork

“Out of the Dust” by Carol Walker

This powerful ranch horse runs just after dawn, dust billowing around him in the golden light.  His strong body is stretched out in a full gallop, mane flying. This image was taken at a ranch in Montana during a photography workshop I was teaching. Dust and horses combine to make wonderful images, and his bay coat shone in the early morning sunlight.
