The Wild Bay Stallion

Carol WalkerWild Horse Tales

The first time I met the wild bay stallion Reynaldo was in May 2021 in Lost Creek, Wyoming. He was with his family, and I remember his high steps and his tall stockings. He was very protective of his family. His one blue eye was startling and beautiful to see.

The next time I saw him was after the devastating winter of 2022-2023, in October, 2023. There were so many horses I never saw again, but I was delighted to find him with a huge group of horses, and he was hanging out with the bachelors. He had lost part of his tail, and also his family.

My next encounter with Reynaldo was this year in September. Now he was in Stewart Creek, and had a new palomino pinto mare and her red pinto foal. I recognized the mare from before the terrible winter, she had been with Abelardo with another red pinto foal.

I was happy to see she had survived as well, and Reynaldo was just as protective of her as he had been with his previous family.
